MEET CHRISTOPHER HOWARD
Helping Adults Build Stronger Bodies,
Healthier Habits,
and Longer Lives.
I’m Christopher Howard. For more than 15 years, I’ve helped adults over 40 build stronger bodies, healthier habits, and longer lives through evidence-based coaching, education, and community.
I believe lasting health is built through education, consistency, and purpose—not quick fixes. Through evidence-based coaching, community leadership, and lifelong learning, I help adults over 40 create sustainable habits that improve strength, confidence, and quality of life.
My work extends beyond personal training. As the founder of C. Howard Fitness and Executive Director of the Community Wellness Initiative of Pittsburgh, I am committed to helping individuals and communities thrive through movement, education, and equitable access to wellness. Today, that mission continues through my doctoral studies in Health & Physical Activity at the University of Pittsburgh.

MY JOURNEY
A life shaped by purpose, education, and service
Fitness did not become my calling overnight. My professional journey began in the steel industry, where I spent sixteen years at Allegheny Ludlum learning the value of discipline, perseverance, and hard work. That chapter shaped my work ethic and inspired a desire to help others live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
That decision led me to the University of Pittsburgh, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, followed by a master’s degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from California University of Pennsylvania. Along the way, I became an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist and founded C. Howard Fitness, combining evidence-based coaching with a passion for helping adults over 40 build strength, confidence, and lifelong wellness.
As my work evolved, I realized that lasting health extends beyond the individual. That vision inspired me to establish the Community Wellness Initiative of Pittsburgh, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to health education, mentoring future fitness professionals, and strengthening communities through collaboration and equity.
Today, that journey continues as I pursue a Doctor of Education in Health & Physical Activity at the University of Pittsburgh. Whether I am coaching a client, mentoring a future professional, leading a community initiative, or conducting doctoral research, my mission remains the same: to help people and communities thrive through education, movement, and purpose.
WHAT DRIVES MY WORK
Why I Do This Work
I do not believe people fail because they lack motivation. More often, they have never been given a sustainable plan that fits their life.
Health is not built through perfection, punishment, or quick fixes. It is built through education, consistency, accountability, and habits that become part of who we are.
Whether I am working with one client, mentoring a future professional, or serving an entire community, my goal is the same: to help people create healthier lives they can sustain for decades.
